GRINNELL, Iowa — All season long, Saint Mary’s University freshman Peter Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) has been running in the shadow sophomore David Feather (Oak Creek, Wis.) Heading into Saturday’s NCAA Central Regional, Feather had been the first Cardinal runner across the finish line in each and every race — with Borash always close behind. At the season-ending regional, however, it was Borash who took the lead, posting a career-best eight-kilometer time of 27:05 to lead the Cardinal men to a 19th-place finish in the 25-team field. On the women’s side, Rachel Folan (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) once again led the Cardinals’ charge, stopping the clock in 24:08 in helping SMU to a 22nd-place finish among the 26 regional teams.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Since Saturday was Halloween, Ward Berndt was hoping his Saint Mary’s University cross country teams would give him a few treats at the season-ending Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Unfortunately, the Cardinals’ performances were a little too much trick and not much treat, as the SMU settled for a 10th-place finish, while the Cardinal women were 11th.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Mother Nature did her best to make life miserable for the Saint Mary’s University cross country teams Friday night at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational. Fortunately for SMU coach Ward Berndt, Mother Nature’s best wasn’t good enough to faze the Cardinal runners, as both teams placed 13th in the 19-team fields.
