SMU's Chris Palmer (5) was named MIAC Player of the Week Monday, after averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds in the Cardinals' three games last week.
WINONA, Minn. — Chris Palmer (Faribault, Minn.) had the type of week that certainly turned a few heads around the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds in the Cardinals' three men's basketball games last week.

And those efforts certainly didn't go unnoticed, as the Saint Mary's University freshman was named MIAC Player of the Week.

The freshman forward kicked off the week with 13 points and 11 rebounds against fifth-ranked St. Thomas on Monday, then followed that up with 21 points and 13 boards against St. Olaf two days later.

Palmer saved his best for last, however, knocking down 5 3-pointers en route to a career-best 26 points in SMU's 71-55 victory over Concordia on Saturday. Palmer also had nine boards vs. the Cobbers, missing his third straight double-double — and fourth of the season — by one rebound.

Palmer enters Monday's conference showdown against Augswburg averaging 13.8 ppg and a team-leading 7.6 rpg.
