WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's track and field team got their outdoor season off and running Thursday evening, getting a pair of second-place efforts from
Teri Heinzen (Marshfield, Wis.) in a dual meet against Winona State at the SMU Track.
“It was a good meet for us,” said SMU coach Shawn McMahon. “We got a lot of very solid performances. For us to just get an outdoor meet in this early is great — and to have the meet on our home track is pretty awesome.”
Heinzen clocked a time of 12.84 to finish second in the 100, then added a second-place time of 26.12 in the 200.
Rachel Folan (Glen Ellyn) stopped the clock in 5:06.23 to win the 1,500 in an event only run by SMU, while Sabrina Larson-Bushlack collected a third in the high jump (1.47 meters), and
Lauren Baier (Mount Horeb, Wis.) and
Nicole Reynard (Hortonville, Wis.) added fourths in the 400 (1:04.79) and the javelin (24.00), respectively.
