Brueggen earns USTFCCCA academic honor
Donny Nadeau, SMU Sports Information Office
WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University's Andrew Brueggen (Holmen, Wis.) — an NCAA Division III national qualifier in both the weight throw and hammer during the 2010 season — earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors, it was announced Wednesday.

Brueggen — who earned All-American honors with his fourth-place effort in the weight throw in March — is among 202 men's student-athletes from 74 Division III schools to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Fueled by UW-La Crosse's 10 all-academic honorees, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) led all conferences with 25 selections, while the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) was second with 21.

To earn all-academic status, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher and have met either the NCAA Division III indoor or outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standing in their respective event.
