Match SummaryWINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's tennis coach
Jeff Halberg knew his Cardinals were going to have their hands full against St. Olaf Friday evening.
How right he was.
St. Olaf took control early—winning all three doubles matches—before sweeping the six singles contests in straight sets in handing Saint Mary's a 9-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference setback at the Winona Tennis Center.
"The ladies ran into a very good St. Olaf team," Halberg said. "Top to bottom, they are very, very strong. Hopefully we can pick ourselves up for St. Norbert (Saturday)."
The Oles did not waste any time taking control, dropping just five games—all at No. 1—in sweeping the three doubles matches. And in singles, St. Olaf was equally as dominating, losing just a combined seven games in posting six, straight-set victories to complete the sweep.
The Cardinals (3-7 MIAC, 8-8 overall) close out the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, hosting St. Norbert in a 3 p.m. nonconference contest at the Winona Tennis Center.
