GameDay Preview
WINONA, Minn. — For the second day in a row,
Brett Jackson (Edmonton, Alberta) fired the low round for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf team Monday afternoon.
But this time, the Cardinal sophomore had some company.
Just a day after carding a one-over-par 72 during the opening round of the Winona State Triangular Sunday afternoon, Jackson turned in a three-over 74 in Monday's second round—a score equaled by teammate
David Iten (Fridley, Minn.).
Fueled by the Cardinal duo, Saint Mary's whittled nine shots off its opening-round 319, shooting a second-day 310 to finish second to host Winona State. Viterbo finished third four shots behind the Cardinals.
Along with the 74s by Jackson (72-74—146) and Iten (80-74—154), the Cardinals also got a second-round 82 from
Hunter Rau (Plainview, Minn. / 83-82—165), an 84 from
Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn. / 84-84—168), and an 80 from
Chad Cesarz (Jackson, Mich. / 95-80—175).
The Cardinals close out the spring portion of their schedule next weekend, taking part in the two-day, 54-hole Saint John's Spring Invitational at Territory Golf Course in St. Cloud, Minn., on Saturday, and Monticello Country Club in Monticello, Minn., on Sunday.
