Basketball: Played basketball for four years and was a member of the Saint Mary's team which won the state title in 1940. … Received three letters in basketball.

Coaching:
Began coaching career at Winona Cotter in 1946 coaching football, basketball and baseball. … In 1951, coaching career was interrupted during the Korean conflict. …Under his direction the Cotter Ramblers basketball team has been in the finals six times for the private school tournament prior to 1974. In 1976, Cotter team played in State tournament. In 1977, coached Cotter Ramblers to a Minnesota State championship.
