Highlights:

Football: Played four years of football as a tackle under Coach Skemp; lost only 30 minutes of play during 4 years. … A 1926 Nexus article called him "the fightingest tackle that ever donned a Cardinal uniform" and the "Iron Man" of the Cardinal team.

Basketball: Also played varsity basketball his senior year.

Coaching: While a student, instituted and coached the wrestling teams. … Assistant football coach, SMC 1929. … Directed wrestling program, SMC 1928. … Director of physical education, SMC 1927-1928. … Coached Cotter High School athletic teams 1928-1932. During that time had three undefeated seasons. … Came back to Saint Mary's in 1932 to coach hockey. Three players were named All American that year. This team went to Madison Square Garden where they played the U.S. Olympic team, the St. Nick’s.
