WINONA, Minn. —
Kyle Maas and Nick Gualano each scored two goals as the Saint Mary's University men's JV hockey team cruised to a 7-3 win over Gustavus Saturday at the SMU Ice Arena.
Kevan Shockley and GAC's Andrew Wick scored first-period goals, as the two teams skated to a 1-1 tie after the game's opening 20 minutes. From there, it was all SMU, as the Cardinals scored three times in both the second and third periods to seal the win.
Maas, Gualano and
Greg Gardiner gave SMU a 4-1 lead heading into the third period, with Maas,
Jordan Myers and Gualano adding third-period goals.
Tim High finished with 35 saves in goal for the Cardinals, while GAC's Miles Wilson faced 59 SMU shots, stopping 52.
The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 3, traveling to St. Cloud, Minn., for a 2 p.m. game against Saint John's.
