Wright scored a team-high 16 points in leading the Cardinals to a 76-61 win over Bethel last Saturday. More importantly, his seventh point of the game — the second of two free throws eight minutes into the opening half — was the 1,000 point of his illustrious career.

Wright has 1,009 career points, 35 points behind Al Williams for 23rd all time. Wright’s 16-point effort was the 29th time in SMU’s last 31 games that the SMU junior has scored 10 or more points. Wright has now scored in double figures in 51 of his 55 collegiate games.
