Cherwinka had an outstanding weekend in helping the Cardinals to a perfect 4-0 run at the MIAC-IIAC Border Battle in Dubuque, Iowa. The senior setter dished out 154 assists, while also collecting 12 kills — including a career-high eight in SMU’s 3-2 win over Central — in the Cardinals’ four Border Battle matches, earning her all-tournament honors. Cherwinka enters Wednesday’s matches at Northwestern (Minn.) with 2,755 career assists, leaving her just 28 assists shy of current assistant coach Tessa Wagnild for No. 2 all-time.
