Dan Smith kicked out 78 of the 84 shots he faced during the Cardinals Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference-opening two-game series against Saint John's last weekend. Smith, a returning All-MIAC selection, stopped 37 shots in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Johnnies, then kicked out 41 more in helping SMU snap a 12-game winless streak with Saturday's 3-2 victory.
