Peterson collected 38 kills in the SMU volleyball team’s two Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff matches last week. The First-Team All-MIAC selection kicked off the weekend with a 15-kill effort in SMU’s 3-0 win over Concordia, then followed that up with a 23-kill showing in a 3-1 loss to eventual tournament champion St. Thomas two days later.

Peterson’s 23 kills against the Tommies equaled her collegiate best and was the most kills by a Cardinal since Kara Grant recorded 26 kills against Clarke on Sept. 30, 2011. In her first season as a Cardinal, Peterson — who recorded 10 or more kills 30 times in SMU’s 33 matches this season — has compiled a team-leading 423 kills.
