Buerkle closed out the season as one of the hottest hitters in the MIAC. The freshman outfielder hit .619 in five games last week — going 13-for-21 wiht two doubles, three runs and five RBIs. He owned a .714 slugging percentage and a .652 on-base percentage, while also stealing two bases and owning 11 putouts.

Buerkle had at least one hit in all five games last week — inlcuding seven hits in 13 at-bats in SMU's three MIAC Tournament games — and closed out the year with hits in 36 of the Cardinals' 40 games. He also reached base safely in 39 of the team's 40 contests.
