Newsum posted a team-best eight-kilometer time of 26:06 to place 16th individually and lead the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's cross country team to a seventh-place finish at last Saturday's MIAC Championships.

Newsum's effort was not only a season-best—not to mention an honorable-mention All-MIAC performance—it also helped the Cardinals to their highest team finish in coach Ward Berndt's 10 years at the helm.
