Betzold tossed a pair of complete games in helping the Cardinal fastpitch softball team close out its season with 9-4 and 6-2 wins over Augsburg last Tuesday.
With her efforts against Augsburg, Betzold became the program’s all-time single-season and career leader in complete games. The junior right-hander broke Megan Wallisch’s single-season record by tossing 22 complete games this season, while also eclipsing Jenny Schipp’s career mark, closing out her third season as a Cardinal with 56 complete games.
Betzold closed out 2016 logging a team-high 182.1 innings, compiling an 18-12 record and 2.61 ERA, while also hitting .328 (39-for-119) with seven doubles, one home run, 19 runs scored, and 21 RBIs.
