Amiotte kicked off his senior season in impressive fashion, winning the consolation singles title at the Midwest Open last weekend in St. Peter, Minn.
Amiotte dropped his opening-round match, and then proceded to rattle off six straight singles wins—all in one day—to caputre the title.
Amiotte opened the day with a convincing 8-1 victory over Hamline's Gabe Guarin, but the Cardinal senior did not enjoy a quick start in his second match of the afternoon against Wartburg's Sam Nettleton, falling behind 7-2, before rattling off six straight wins—and taking the tiebreaker 8-6 to keep his tournament alive.

And Amiotte wasn't ready to be finished, as he continued his winning ways with an 8-4 win over Nate Raskin from Concordia (Wis.), before outlasting Grinnell's Ishaan Tiberwal 8-7—including 11-9 in the tie-breaker—in his consolation quarterfinal match.

In the semifinals, Amiotte was once again extended to the max, surviving a 5-7, love-40 deficit to beat Coe's Nathan Greiner 8-7 (7-4) to earn a spot in the consolation final—where he concluded his epic run with an 8-5 win over Concordia's David Youngs.
