The Cardinal men's basketball team only played one game last week, but sophomore Eli Cave made the most of it.

Cave erupted for a career-high 35 points in leading Saint Mary's to a 79-63 nonconference win over Martin Luther last Saturday.

The sophomore forward, who missed all of last year due to an injury, knocked down 12 of 19 field goals attempts — including a 3-for-5 showing from behind the 3-point line — and added an 8 of 10 effort from the free throw line.

Cave's performance — the third straight game in which he has posted a career-high — was the highest single-game showing since Michael Burfeind poured in 38 points against Concordia on Dec. 7, 2011
