Lichttenegger kicked off his senior track and field season in style last Saturday, equaling one school record en route to winning one event and finishing second in another at the indoor season-opening Cardinal Early Birdinal.
 
Lichttenegger equaled the school record in the 55 prelims — originally set in 2010 — at the Cardinal Early Birdinal last Saturday, clocking a time 6.59. The Cardinal went on to win the event with a time of 6.62 in the finals.
 
Along with his victory in the 55, Lichttenegger also delivered a second in the long jump with a leap of 6.80 meters>
 
Lichttenegger and the Cardinals are back in action on Saturday, heading to UW-Stout’s Sports & Fitness Center in Menomonie, Wis., to take part in the UW-Stout Open.
