Shefchik enjoyed a record-setting weekend at the MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships, as the Cardinal junior broke five school records during the four-day evening.
Â
Shefchik kicked off her record-setting run as a member of the  800 freestyle relay team, joining Katie Beitz (Blaine, Minn.), Claire King (Red Wing, Minn.), and Ashlyn Seifert (Austin, Texas) as the quartet broke their own 800 freestyle relay record — set at least year’s event — touching the wall in 8:30.30 to place ninth.
Â
And that was just the opening act.
Â
Over the next three days, Shefchik racked up school record No. 2, posting a time of 2:33.58 in the 500 freestyle, followed that up with a record-setting time of 4:58.47 in the 400 IM, and collected records No. 4 and No. 5 by breaking both the 1,000 and 1,650 freestyle marks.
Â
Shefchik clocked a record-setting time of 11:25.98 during the first 1,000 and ended the 1,650 event with a new school record time of 18:57.76.
