Lichttenegger could not have scripted a better final Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, as the senior collected two conference titles and added a third All-MIAC performance last weekend in Collegeville, Minn.
Â
Already owner of the fourth-longest long jump in NCAA Division III, Lichttenegger decided to improve his stock last Friday, uncorking a school- and conference-record leap of 7.56 meters — the top performance in all of NCAA Division III this season. Lichttenegger’s long jump performance was not only a school and conference record — by more than a foot — but the 13th longest effort ever in NCAA Division III history.
Â
And that was just the beginning.
Â
Lichttenegger — who also placed second in the 60 with a time of 6.91 — picked up conference title No. 2 on Saturday, blowing away his own school record in posting a time of 22.09 to win the 200.
Â
With his performances at the conference championships, Lichttenegger is currently sitting No. 1 in Division III in the long jump, eighth in the 200, and 11th in the 60.
