McNally kicked off the conference season in style for the Saint Mary’s volleyball team last Wednesday, recording a program-record 32 kills — including accounting for the final four points in the fifth and final set of SMU’s 3-2, MIAC-opening win over the Knights.
McNally, whose previous career-best was a 25-kill performance against UW-Stout on Sept. 8, was virtually unstoppable against the Knights on Wednesday, racking up 32 kills on 73 swings and hitting .288. She tallied five kills in the opening set, and followed that up with seven in the second, nine in the third, six in the fourth, and five in the fifth.
And the hard-hitting sophomore’s week was far from complete, as McNally tacked on a team-leading 36 kills in the Cardinals’ three games at the University of Dubuque/Loras Invitational last Friday and Saturday.
McNally heads into Saint Mary’s conference match against Augsburg Wednesday boasting a team-leading 191 kills. She has recorded at least 10 kills in nine of the team’s 12 matches this season — including four matches of 20 of more kills.
