Cave was a hitting machine in the Cardinal fastpitch softball team’s first four conference games last weekend. The junior hit a team-leading .538 and boasted an .846 slugging percentage in leading the Cardinals to a 3-1 record during the opening weekend of conference play.
In her first year as a Cardinal, Cave recorded at least one hit in all four contests — and had two hits in three of the four games. Cave kicked off the weekend going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles in a 10-7 win over St. Catherine, before added a 2-for-3 effort with her third double of the day in the nightcap, a 9-1 loss.
The following afternoon, Cave was at it again, opening SMU’s doubleheader against Concordia with a 1-for-2 performance, before closing out the DH with two hits in four at-bats — including her fourth double of the weekend — as Saint Mary’s swept Concordia 6-3 and 9-5.
In the Cardinals’ four games, Cave hit .538, going 7-for-13 with four doubles, four runs scored, and three RBIs. She boasted an .846 slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage.
