VanEgtern was the offensive leader for the Cardinal baseball team last week, hitting .417 in SMU’s three games, including a 4-for-8 showing in SMU’s conference-opening sweep of St. Scholastica last Sunday.

VanEgtern opened the week with a hit in four at-bats in SMU’s 6-1 loss to UW-La Crosse, before going 1-for-3 in Game 1 against the Saints and adding a 3-for-5 effort — including his third home run of the season — in the Cardinals’ sweep-clinching 8-7 win in Game 2.

For the week, VanEgtern finished 5-for-12 with two doubles, a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. He boasted a .385 on-base percentage and an .833 slugging percentage.
