Ziegler averaged 29.0 points and poured in a single-game school-record eight 3-pointers — twice — in the Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team’s two games last week.
Â
The junior sharp-shooter was virtually unstoppable from beyond the arc in the Cardinals’ first game of the week, scoring a then-career-high 26 points on 9 of 14 shooting — including a stellar 8-for-13 showing from behind the arc — in SMU’s 75-69 loss to St. Olaf.
Â
Three days later, Ziegler was at it again — only better.
Â
Fueled by a second straight program-record eight 3-pointers, Ziegler did his St. Olaf career-best four points better, pouring in 30 points in leading the Cardinals to a convincing 85-66 win over Carleton.
Â
For the week, Ziegler finished 21-for-36 from the field — including 16 of 27 from 3-point range — and hauled in 11 rebounds.
Â
Ziegler and the Cardinals (2-3 MIAC, 2-4 overall) are back in action on Saturday, when they travel to Concordia’s Memorial Auditorium in Moorhead, Minn., for a 1 p.m. conference matchup against the Cobbers.
