In the Cardinals’ only two games of the week — a 10-2, 11-3 sweep of St. Scholastica last Saturday — Steffes was the Cardinals’ offensive leader, hitting .600, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, two walks, four runs scored, and a 1.600 slugging percentage.
And that wasn’t the only impact the Cardinal freshman had on the SMU sweep, also going 1-0 with a 2.33 ERA in six innings in the pitcher’s circle, allowing just two runs on four hits in a five-inning complete-game win in the opener against the Saints, before adding an inning of scoreless relief in the nightcap.
