• 3-1 x 2: The Cardinal women’s soccer team posted back-to-back 3-1 victories last week, beating St. Olaf last Wednesday and topping Bethel three days later — with both wins coming on their home field.
• 5: Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) recorded her fifth double-double of the season in the Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-0 loss to UW-La Crosse last Wednesday, posting 13 kills — including 10 of the team’s 11 kills through the first two sets — and adding 11 digs.
• 5: The Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team’s six goals in its 3-1 wins over St. Olaf and Bethel last week came from five different players — Claire Fletcher (Woodbury, Minn.), Haddy Falkman (Waconia, Minn.), and Jordyn Matthews (Seattle, Wash.) scored against St. Olaf, while Falkman, Elisia Jensen (Gig Harbor, Wash.) and Brooklyn McKinney (Thornton, Colo.) found the back of the net against Bethel.
• 6-1-1: With their back-to-back 3-1 wins last week, the Cardinal women’s soccer team improved to 6-1-1 in conference play this season — and remain tied for the top spot in the conference standings with St. Catherine.
• 7: Eli Szymanski (La Crosse, Wis.) scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season in the Cardinal men’s soccer team’s 2-1 loss to 17th-ranked St. Olaf last Wednesday. Szymanski has now scored in two of SMU’s last four games and in six of its 14 contests overall.
• 8: All eight Saint Mary’s cross country runners turned in season-best performances at last Friday’s UW-La Crosse Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitationals.
• 8: Madison Mora (Honolulu, Hawaii) — making her second start of the season in goal for the Cardinal women’s soccer team — stopped a career-high eight shots in SMU’s 3-1 win over St. Olaf last Wednesday.
• 8: : The Cardinal women’s soccer team’s 3-1 win over St. Olaf last Tuesday snapped a streak of eight straight games decided by one goal or less — including back-to-back-to-back-to-back 1-0 decisions. In those eight games, SMU beat Carleton (1-0), St. Catherine (2-1), Gustavus (1-0), Concordia (1-0), and UW-River Falls, lost to UW-Stout (2-1) and Augsburg (1-0), and tied Saint Benedict (0-0).
• 9: The SMU men’s soccer team’s 2-1 loss to nationally ranked St. Olaf last Wednesday and 1-0, double-overtime setback against Bethel marked the eighth and ninth times in 14 games this season the Cardinals have been involved in a game decided by one goal.
• 21: The Saint Mary’s volleyball team’s three road matches last week were the final road contests of the regular season for the Cardinals — who have played 21 of their 23 matches thus far this year on the road. SMU closes out its regular-season schedule with home matches against Macalester, Bethel, St. Olaf, and Gustavus.
27+12 = 6: Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) picked up her team-leading sixth double-double of the season in the SMU volleyball team’s 3-0 loss against Saint Benedict last Friday, posting 27 assists and 12 digs.
• 28:05: All three Cardinal men enjoyed a career-best afternoon for the Saint Mary’s men’s cross country team at last Friday’s Jim Drews Invitational, led by Quinn Steinbrecher (Holmen, Wis.), who shaved five seconds off his previous best eight-kilometer time by stopping the clock in 28:05. Isaiah Brindamour (Hinckley, Minn.) did his teammate one better, knocking more than a minute off his top time, finishing right behind Steinbrecher in a time of 28:08. And not to be outdone, Gabe Bickerstaff (Rollingstone, Minn.) stopped the clock in a career-best 29:35 to round out the Cardinal runners.
• 41: The Saint Mary’s women’s cross country team’s top three finishers at last Friday’s UW-La Crosse Tori Neubauer Invitational finished within 41 seconds of each other. Amanda Tuvey (West St. Paul, Minn.) toured the six-kilometer course in a season-best time of 25:16, followed by Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) and Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.), who broke the tape in 25:29 and 25:57, respectively.
