• 1: Peyton Berg (Chatfield, Minn.) was the Cardinal fastpitch softball team’s representative on the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team, after going 5-for-11 (.455) with a home run and four runs batted in in the Cardinals’ three NCAA games.
• 1: Lizzie Pike (Rochester, Minn.) belted her first collegiate home run as part of the SMU fastpitch softball team’s five-run sixth inning in last Thursday’s NCAA Regional Tournament-opening 7-3 win over DePauw. Pike finished the tournament with a team-leading .556 batting average (5-for-9) with three runs scored and an .889 slugging percentage.
• 2: Makayla Steffes (Winona, Minn.) and Peyton Berg (Chatfield, Minn.) earned NFCA All-Region IX honors last Friday. Steffes was a First-Team selection, while Berg was named to the Second-Team.
• 5: The SMU fastpitch softball team scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning en route to a 7-3 victory over DePauw in the opening game of the NCAA Regional Tournament last Thursday.
• 7: The Cardinal tennis teams combined to put seven athletes on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Teams on Tuesday. Matt Besek, Brendon Raabolle, Caden Rodning, and Tucker Stene represented the SMU men’s team, while Ella Boomgaarden, Emily Henderson, and Peyton Buerman were selected from the women’s squad.
• 8: The Saint Mary’s baseball team collected eight MIAC post-season honors last Tuesday. Cameron Weber, Riley Bauman, Tanner Bauman, Dylan Westcott, Addison Hochevar, and Andrew Fischer were all named All-MIAC, while Riley Bauman and Westcott were also selected to the MIAC All-Playoff Team.
• 9: Peyton Berg (Chatfield, Minn.) launched her team-leading ninth home run of the season in the Cardinal fastpitch softball team’s 6-3, extra-inning loss to Coe in the winner’s bracket of the NCAA Regional Tournament.
• 9: Chris Bulwa, Morgan Wallendal, and Samantha Kubes were all named All-MIAC thanks to their Top 3 finishes at the MIAC Outdoor Championships on May 9-10. All told, SMU collected nine all-conference honors, as Bulwa and Oliver Adamson added a pair of honorable-mention honors, and Jinwoo Jung and Brady Johnson also took home honorable-mention selections.
