• 1: Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team locked up its first-ever MIAC Tournament berth since the league added the six-team tourney in 2003. With two conference games remaining, the Cardinals are still in the running for their first MIAC regular-season title since 1991, but they will have to win both of their two remaining games, and have both Saint Benedict and St. Catherine each lose once.
• 1: Aidan Adamek (Helena, Mont.) scored his first collegiate goal, the game-tying tally in the SMU men’s soccer team’s 1-1 double-overtime tie against Hamline last Saturday.
• 1:55: Tyson Liverance (Burford, Ontario) scored 1:55 into overtime, lifting the Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team to a 3-2 exhibition win over UW-Stout last Saturday. Nick Kiemel (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Brady Lindauer (Cary, Ill.) netted SMU’s other two goals against the Blue Devils.
• 2: Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) picked up her team-leading seventh double-double of the season in the Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-2 loss to Macalester last Friday, dishing out 34 assists and adding 13 digs. Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.), meanwhile, posted her sixth double-double of the year against the Scots, finishing with 22 kills and 14 assists.
• 3: Last Saturday’s 1-1 tie against Hamline was the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team’s second straight double-overtime game. SMU fell to Bethel 1-1 in 2 OTs on Oct. 13. Saint Mary’s has now played three overtime games this season, having also dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to Saint John’s on Sept. 18.
• 4: The Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-2 loss to Macalester last Friday was their fourth five-set match of the season. SMU was also extended to a fifth set in beating Carleton and falling to Marian and Carroll. S
• 5: Ciarra McNally’s (Lewiston, Minn.) 22 kills in the Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-2 loss to Macalester last Friday marked the fifth time this season the sophomore has recorded 20 or more kills in a match.
• 8: The Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team’s nine goals in last Saturday’s 9-0 exhibition win over Marian came from eight different players. Sydney Green (East Bethel, Minn.) scored twice, while Sidney Polzin (Chippewa Falls, Wis.), Delaney Calabrese (West Dundee, Ill.), Jordan Modjeski (South Lyon, Mich.), Anna Braun (Mantorville, Minn.) Avrey Simonson (Waupaca, Wis.), Kennedy Kraus (Kasson, Minn.), and Carson Sheridan (Waunakee, Wis.) accounted for the other seven.
• 9: The Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team’s 1-0 loss to Hamline marked the ninth time in the last 10 outings that the game has been decided by one goal or less — the lone exception, SMU’s 3-1 win over St. Olaf on Oct. 12.
• 10: Ten of the Cardinal men’s soccer team’s last 12 games have been decided by one goal or less. Along with last Saturday’s 1-1 tie against Hamline — the Cardinals’ first tie of the season — the Cardinals have beaten Simpson (1-0), while falling to Carleton (2-1), Saint John’s (1-0), UW-Eau Claire (3-2), Gustavus (1-0), Ripon (3-2), Augsburg (2-1), St. Olaf (2-1), and Bethel (1-0).
• 14 x 2: Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) and Larkin Clem (Elk River, Minn.) each dished out 14 assists in the Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-0 loss to No. 23 Bethel last Saturday.
• 34: With her 34 assists in the SMU volleyball team’s 3-2 loss to Macalester last Friday, Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) has posted five matches with 30 or more assists.
