• 1: Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) collected her first post-season honor, being named to the All-MIAC First-Team when the league office announced its volleyball awards last Wednesday.
• 1 x 3: Matt Hutton (Carmel, Ind.), Gabe Potyk (Lake Orion, Mich.) and Laudon Poellinger (La Crescent Minn.) all scored their first collegiate goals for the Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team last week. Hutton recorded his first goal in a Cardinal uniform in last Wednesday’s 5-1 loss to Lawrence; Potyk delivered goal No. 1 of his career in last Friday’s 4-3 win over UW-Superior; and Poellinger netted SMU’s lone goal in last Saturday’s 4-1 loss to seventh-ranked UW-Eau Claire.
• 1: The Cardinal women’s soccer team made their first-ever MIAC Tournament appearance since the league added the six-team tourney in 2003. After battling St. Scholastica to a 0-0 double-overtime tie, the Cardinals beat the Saints 4-1 in the penalty kick shootout to advance to the tournament semifinals, where they fell to Saint Benedict 3-2.
• 2: Brady Lindauer (Cary, Ind.) picked up assists on two of the Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team’s four goals in last Friday’s 4-3 win over UW-Superior. Lindauer has recorded two assists in a game three times in his collegiate career.
• 2 x 2: Elisia Jensen (Gig Harbor, Wash.) scored both of the Cardinals’ goals in last Wednesday’s 3-2 loss to Saint Benedict in the MIAC Tournament semifinals. It was the second time this season the freshman had scored two goals in a game.
• 2-0-2: Last Monday’s double-overtime tie against St. Scholastica — which SMU eventually won in a penalty kick shootout — was the Cardinals’ fourth overtime game of the season. Saint Mary’s finished the year 2-0-2 in overtime games — with both ties decided by 0-0 scores.
• 4: The Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team scored all four of its penalty kicks in beating St. Scholastica last Monday to advance to the MIAC Tournament semifinal. The Cardinals and Saints battled to a 0-0, double-overtime tie, forcing a penalty kick shootout to determine a winner.
• 4: The Cardinal men’s hockey team had four different players score their four goals in last Friday’s 4-3 win over UW-Superior — Gabe Potyk (Lake Orion, Mich.), Ryan Stoynich (Calgary, Alberta), Bud Winter (St. Louis, Mo.), and Trevor Schroder (Des Moines, Iowa). Saint Mary’s eight goals this season have come from six different players.
• 8: Alexis Nguyen (West Corvina, Calif.) stopped both shots she faced in the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team’s MIAC Tournament win over St. Scholastica last Monday en route to her eighth shutout of the season.
• 10: Haddy Falkman (Waconia, Minn.) closed out the season as the SMU women’s soccer team’s goal-scoring leader with 10, two more than Jordyn Matthews (Seattle, Wash.), while Elisia Jensen (Gig Harbor, Wash.) and Brooklyn McKinney (Thornton, Colo.) closed out their freshman campaigns with five goals each.
• 13: The Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team closed out the 2021 season with 13 wins — the most since the 2005 team finished 13-5-0.
• 17: Kareem Anthony-Bello (Chicago, Ill.) scored a team-high 17 points in the Saint Mary's men's basketball team's 77-61 loss to NCAA Division II Winona State in an exhibition game Sunday.
• 43: After making a combined 39 saves in his first two appearances of the week in goal for the Saint Mary’s hockey team, A.J. Ruskowski (Traverse City, Mich.) stopped a career-high 43 shots in the Cardinals’ 4-1 loss to seventh-ranked UW-Eau Claire last Saturday.
ª 44: Ary Ziakas (Palatine, Ill.) and Jordan Keeley (St. Peter, Minn.) combined for a 44 saves in the Cardinal women’s hockey team’s loss to UW-River Falls last Saturday. Ziakas finished with 16 first-period saves, while Keeley stopped 28 Falcon shots over the final two perios — including 18 in the second period alone.
