NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team saw its 2025 season come to a close Monday afternoon, falling 1-0 to third-seeded St. Olaf in the MIAC Quarterfinals at Rolf Mellby Field.
The sixth-seeded Cardinals came out strong, pressing early and creating a pair of scoring chances in the opening minutes, including looks from Lauryn Skoruppa and Hannah Bradley.Â
Goalkeeper Anna Peckosh stood tall between the posts, recording two key saves in the first half to keep the match scoreless heading into the break.
St. Olaf broke through just moments into the second half, converting on a shot in the 46th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Saint Mary's continued to battle until the final whistle, led offensively by Samantha Munson, who tallied three shots, but the Cardinals couldn't find the equalizer.
Peckosh finished with two saves as the Cardinals closed their season after a hard-fought playoff push and a strong defensive showing against one of the league's top teams.
