MOORHEAD, Minn. — In a big road game, the Saint Mary's men's hockey team (5-3-1, 3-1-0) battled past Concordia-Moorhead (3-6-1, 1-4-1) for a 3–2 win, using a strong third period to pull away. After a quiet opening frame and a one-goal second period, the Cardinals delivered the difference-makers late, scoring twice in the final period and finishing the night with a 15-shot surge.
In net, Adam Prokop was outstanding, turning away 37 of the Cobbers' 39 shots to anchor the victory.
Saint Mary's came out sharp, winning the opening faceoff and applying early pressure. The Cardinals were tested midway through the first after a two-minute boarding penalty on Colin Tushie at 14:15, but Prokop stood tall, making several key saves to keep Concordia off the board.
Despite chances on both sides, the teams headed to the first intermission locked at 0–0.
Concordia struck first in the second period with a short-handed goal from Caden Triggs at 16:43, but the Cardinals answered quickly. At 14:34, Kyle Arias buried an even-strength goal off setups from Cole Mickel and Luc Cernohous to even things at 1–1.
That score held into the break, setting up a tight and decisive final period.
In the third, the Cardinals found their stride. Joona Juntunen tied the game at 11:36, finishing a play created by Carter Newpower and Jack Campion. With momentum on their side, Saint Mary's struck again at 4:30—this time it was Ryan Berglund, who delivered the game-winner off feeds from Juntunen and Campion.
Concordia pulled its goalie late in an effort to force overtime, but the Cardinals held strong defensively and closed out the 3–2 win.
Arias finished with a goal on two shots, while Berglund's tally stood as the game-winner.
