MORRIS, Minn. - The Saint Mary's women's soccer team (1-0) opened the 2025 season in dominant fashion, earning a commanding 5-0 victory over Minnesota Morris (0-1) this evening. Four different Cardinals got in on the action.
Samantha Munson led the Cardinals with a standout performance, scoring twice, including one off a well-placed corner and adding an assist.
Lauryn Skoruppa opened the second half with a quick goal in the 48th minute to jump to a 3-0 lead. You could not slow down these Cardinals!
Working her magic, Hannah Bradley created a goal for herself to extend the lead to for at the 56th minute of action.
The offensive momentum never died as Arianna Diaz-Florez scored her first career goal as a Cardinal in the 88th minute, assisted by Sophia Binder, concluding the match with an impressive 5-0 victory.Â
The final score only tells part of the story. The Cardinals dominated the match by taking 36 shots to the Cougars four and prevented any corner kicks against them while earning five of their own and converting one.
The Cardinals are just getting started in the early stages of the season.
They return back to the pitch on Labor Day for their season opener at 6:00 p.m. hosting UW-Platteville for another non-conference matchup.Â
