WINONA, Minn. - It was an exciting kickoff weekend for Cardinal athletics, and we can't wait to keep the momentum going! This week, we've got three home openers you won't want to miss!
WOMEN'S SOCCER STAYS HOME
After a dominant 5-0 season-opening win over Morris, with four different Cardinals finding the back of the net, the Saint Mary's women's soccer team is gearing up for an exciting (and busy) week ahead. The Cardinals will play three home games, starting with their Labor Day home opener against UW-Platteville at 6:00 p.m.
After a short break, they'll return to the pitch on Friday, September 5th, to take on Grinnell at 4:00 p.m., before wrapping up the week with a Saturday showdown against Lawrence on September 6th at 1:30 p.m. All games will be played at the Oak, don't miss the action!
CROSS COUNTRY ON THE ROAD
It was a fun start to the season last Saturday as Saint Mary's Cross Country hosted its Red/White Alumni home meet, highlighted by a great turnout of returning alumni.
Now, the Cardinals are set to hit the road and keep the momentum going as they head to South Dakota for the annual Augustana Twilight Invitational, a unique under-the-lights race with a 9:00 p.m. start time!
MEN'S SOCCER HOME STAND
It wasn't the start the Saint Mary's men's soccer team had hoped for, dropping both road matches against Illinois Tech and Lake Forest to open the season. But the Cardinals are looking to bounce back this week as they host their home opener on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. against Ripon College.
They'll then wrap up the week with another home matchup on Saturday, September 6, at 4:00 p.m. against Dubuque.
VOLLEYBALL HOSTS SUGAR LOAF TOURNAMENT
After a strong showing at their season-opening tournament, where the Cardinal volleyball team went 3-1, everyone's favorite weekend of volleyball is back! Saint Mary's is set to host the annual Sugar Loaf Classic, presented by Toppers, welcoming seven teams to campus for a full weekend of competition.
The Cardinals will make their home debut on Friday, September 5, at 7:00 p.m. against Wheaton in the David R. Thies Arena. They'll return to the court Saturday for two matches, first at 11:00 a.m. against Buena Vista, then wrapping up the tournament at 3:00 p.m. versus Coe.
As you can see, we have plenty of home action this week you won't want to miss! Go Cardinals!
