A Word From Coach Moore

The men’s hockey team has four graduating seniors that are tremendous examples of student-athletes.  Whether it is on the ice or in the classroom, these young men possess the characteristics needed to be successful in life: hard-work, commitment, dedication, loyalty, as wells as many others.

Nathan Peterson transferred to Saint Mary’s the second semester of his sophomore year.  Petie has been a regular for our defensive corps, serving as an alternate captain his junior year and a captain his senior year.  In addition to his great leadership both on and off the ice, his versatility allows us to use him as a forward on the power play in addition to his regular duties at defense.  Graduating as an environmental biology major, the Cardinals players and staff want to thank Nathan for his hard work and wish him all of the best in the future.

Joey Nadeau has been very determined during his career.  Joey is the only player in our program that did not play junior hockey and has played varsity for three years.  He started out on the junior varsity during his freshman year.  After working very hard in the weight room so that he could compete with players 2-to-4 years older than him, he made the varsity team as a sophomore, where he remained for the last three years.  Joey’s determination and dedication made him a valued member of the Cardinal program.  Graduating as an environmental biology major, the Cardinals players and staff want to thank Joey for his hard work and wish him all of the best in the future.

Vince Unklesbay has been a four-year varsity regular and two year captain for the Cardinal Hockey team.  After Vince’s career in juniors, his classroom success became a priority to him.  Being an above-average student in high school, Vince turned up the heat in college and became an honor student.  This has resulted in being named academic all-conference two times during his career and he will likely be again this year.  Vince is a great leader in and out of the locker room.  Further showing his dedication to the team, when Vince was asked to play defense, a position he had never played in his career, and he did so without any hesitation.  Graduating with a double major in accounting and entrepreneurship management, the Cardinals players and staff want to thank Vince for his hard work and wish him all of the best in the future.

Tom Healy has been a four-year regular and three-year captain for the Cardinal hockey team.  Leading by example, his tremendous work ethic on the ice, off the ice, and in the classroom has rewarded him with the honor of being an academic all-conference player every year he has been eligible to receive the award.  Being on the Dean’s list every semester since enrolling at Saint Mary’s University, Tom exemplifies the term student-athlete.  Battling through a variety of injuries over his career, Tom has never eased up on his training or play.  Graduating with a double major in accounting and sports management, the Cardinals players and staff want to thank Tom for his hard work and wish him all of the best in the future.
