McCaslin is an assistant coach for the Saint Mary's University men's and women's soccer teams, a position he has held since the end of the 2009 season.
McCaslin arrives at Saint Mary's after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Valparaiso University, where he saw the rise of a program, helping to lead the Crusaders to numerous school records including most wins in a season as well as goals against average. The Crusaders also continued a long tradition of NSCAA team academic awards maintaining a team grade point average of 3.0 during his time in Valparaiso.
His primary responsibilities included recruiting, prospect identification, scouting, visit coordination for prospective student athletes, compliance oversight and program promotion. He also ran training sessions, organized off-season weight and fitness plans as well as coordinating the team's travel. McCaslin also served as the camp director for V.I.P., the school's summer recruiting camp aimed at the highest level players in the country.
In addition to his assistant duties, McCaslin was the head coach of the Valparaiso Reserve team in the first year of the team, taking on full responsibilities of a head coach including scheduling, budget management, travel coordination. The reserve team went 10-2-1 under McCaslin in 2009. In addition to his duties with the Crusaders, he served as the head coach of the NWI United FC U-15 boys squad, as well as an assistant coach within the Indiana ODP.
Prior to arriving at Valpo, McCaslin spent time as a team trainer/head coach for ALITHSA and as head coach for the Junior Irish Soccer Club. He holds his NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, his USSF National “C” License and his National Youth License.
McCaslin played intercollegiate soccer for three seasons at DePauw University, where he earned letters all three years. He graduated from DePauw with a degree in English Writing in 2004. During his tenure at Valparaiso, he also earned a master's degree in Sport Administration (2010).
