Marissa Guillou

Marissa Guillou is an assistant women’s soccer coach at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, a position she has held since the start of the 2022-23 academic school year.

Prior to her arrival at Saint Mary’s, Guillou served as the first assistant for the UW-Superior women’s soccer team. During her four years with the Yellowjackets, Guillou was responsible for the team’s goalkeepers, defensive tactics, recruiting, travel, practices, scouting, and team bonding. In her final season at UW-Superior in 2021, the Yellowjackets finished with the best record in program history (18-3-1), were undefeated in conference play, won the program’s first-ever regular-season and conference tournament titles, and qualified for the NCAA Division III national tournament for the first time in program history.

Along with her women’s coaching duties, Guillou was also a member of the men’s soccer coaching staff during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. In both years, the team was the regular- and post-season conference champions, and advanced to the second round in the national tournament.

Guillou played collegiately at Augsburg University, where, in 2014, she helped lead the Auggies to an MIAC Tournament title and their first-ever NCAA Division III national tournament appearance. Guillou and the Auggies also qualified for the national tournament in 2016, reaching the second round.

Guillou also played lacrosse at Augsburg, where she was the Defensive Player of the Year in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) during her senior season, and was a member of the IWLCA Division III All-Great Lakes Region Second Team.

In 2018, Guillou helped organize Augsburg’s first-ever Pride & Allyship game, which is still being held against conference rival Hamline. At UW-Superior, Guillou facilitated the first-ever Ally game, as well as an Anti-Racism game. Both games were held to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the athletic department and the women’s soccer program.

Guillou received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2018. While continuing her education, Guillou went on to earn her United Soccer Coaches (USC) Goalkeeping Level 2 Diploma in June of 2019. In 2021, she earned her master’s degree in Physical Education Coaching of Sport at Southwest Minnesota State University, and her United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National C License.
