VanRanst was dominant in his lone start last week, as the junior left-hander tossed a complete-game shutout, leading the Cardinals to a 2-0 Game 1 over third-place Augsburg Sunday. VanRanst, who had his perfect game foiled in the fifth — when the Auggies collected both of their hits — walked one and struck out four in recording his team-leading fifth win of the season.

VanRanst, whose two-hitter and shutout were both career firsts, lowered his ERA to 3.06 with his team-leading fourth complete game. He also leads the team in innings pitched (53.0) and has hurled four or more innings in all nine of his starts this season.
