Rogers stopped 67 of the 69 shots he faced in leading the Cardinal men’s hockey team to wins over No. 10 Oswego State and No. 14 Williams en route to the Pathfinder/Oswego State Hockey Classic title.

Rogers’ efforts earned him tournament MVP honors, and Monday afternoon, he was recognized once again, being named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced.

Rogers opened tournament play by stopping all 30 shots he faced — helping making Tommy Stang’s (Mendota Heights, Minn.) late first-period goal stand up in the Cardinals’ 1-0 victory over host Oswego State last Friday.

And Rogers was just getting warmed up.

Rogers followed up his first collegiate shutout by blanking No. 14 Williams for the first two periods of their title-game clash, before surrendering a pair of late third-period goals in Saint Mary’s 4-2 victory. Rogers finished with a season-high 37 saves vs. the Ephs to close out the tournament with a 1.00 goals-against-average and a .971 save percentage.

Rogers and the Cardinals (5-5-1 overall) — winners of three straight — return to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action next weekend with a pair of games against St. Thomas. Saint Mary’s will host the Tommies in a 7 p.m. contest on Friday at the Saint Mary’s Ice Arena, before the two teams head to the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights, Minn., for the 7 p.m. rematch the following evening.
