Foley guided the Cardinals to the MIAC Tournament in his first season at the helm in 2018-19. It was the seventh time in the last eight years Saint Mary's has earned a spot in the conference's post-season tournament.
Before his arrival at Saint Mary's, Foley spent two seasons as the head women’s basketball coach at Centenary College of Louisiana, guiding the Ladies to the SCAC Tournament for the first time in program history this past season.
Foley takes over a women’s basketball program that finished 16-11 overall in 2017-18 and reached the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals for the sixth time in the last seven years.
Prior to his time at Centenary, Foley served four years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Luther College. In his final two seasons, Foley helped guide the Norse to a 43-13 record (.768 percentage), two NCAA Tournament berths, two Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championships, and an IIAC regular-season title.
Foley is a graduate of Hendrix College, where he played both basketball and baseball. He was a starting forward for the first Warrior men’s basketball team to qualify for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, and earned honorable-mention all-conference honors his senior season. He also started all four seasons at catcher for the Hendrix baseball team, helping the Warriors win the SCAC in 2009. He also captured SCAC All-Tournament honors as a catcher that season.
