T.J. Oakes is the pitching coach for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota baseball team, a position he has held since the start of the 2015-16 academic school year.
Oakes comes to Saint Mary’s after a storied playing career and a pair of seasons coaching high school baseball at Legacy Christian Academy.
Oakes was a three-year starting pitcher for the University of Minnesota baseball team, earning third-team All-Big Ten honors his freshman and sophomore years, while being named First-Team All-Big Ten as a junior. Oakes was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 11th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, and played two years in the Rockies’ organization, before accepting the coaching position at Legacy Christian Academy.
