WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University volleyball team locked up at least a share of its first-ever Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season championship Wednesday evening, blanking Carleton 15-10, 15-7, 15-4 at the SMU gym.
Diane Wood (Los Alamos, N.M.) collected 13 kills, while
Amanda Edmond (Sandstone, Minn.) and
Leslie Nicholls (Hastings, Minn.) each chipped in 12 as the Cardinals ran their season-high winning streak to seven games, while improving to 9-1 in the conference and 22-6 overall.
The Cardinals, who are 9-1 on their home floor, can lock up that elusive first conference title next Wednesday, when they close out their MIAC schedule with a 7:30 p.m. match against Gustavus.
