Game Summary

WINONA, Minn. — Junior Eric Richardson (Skokie, Ill.) stopped all 18 shots to post his first collegiate shutout as the Saint Mary's University men's hockey team blanked Hamline 4-0 Friday evening at the SMU Ice Arena.

After a sluggish first two periods in which the Cardinals outshot Hamline 21-15 but had just a Ryan Stinson (Winona, Minn.) first-period goal to show for their efforts, the Cardinals turned up the heat in the third period, peppering the Hamline goal with 22 shots and getting goals from Matt Hangge (Rochester, Minn.), Colin Emans (Hutchinson, Minn.) and Stinson to post their first win of the season (1-1-1 MIAC, 1-1-1 overall).

The same two teams square off again Saturday evening at the State Fairgrounds Colisseum in St. Paul, Minn.
