Tennie McCabe (Rochester, Minn.) and
Emily Kearns (Oakdale, Minn.) each scored two goals as the Saint Mary's University women's hockey team posted its second straight
10-0 victory, this time beating St. Olaf in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at the SMU Ice Arena.
The Cardinals (1-0-0, 2-1-0) scored four goals in the first period and three in both the second and third en route to the win. SMU pummeled St. Olaf goalie Amanda Chumbley with 80 shots, while
Nitara Frost (North Mankato, Minn.) stopped all five Ole shots in posting her second straight shutout.
Alyssa Hendlin (Minneapolis, Minn.) opened the scoring for SMU at the 2:57 mark, while
Missy Westergren (Lonsdale, Minn.), McCabe and Kearns also netted first-period goals. Kearns,
Tasa Kostel (Rochester, Minn.) and
Josie Nechodom (Oakdale, Minn.) scored second-period goals, while
Christy Hicks (Bloomington, Minn.), McCabe and
Kendall French (Carbondale, Colo.) closed out the scoring in the third period.
The Cardinals return to action Friday evening, traveling to
St. Benedict for a 7 p.m. game.
