WINONA, Minn. — Winona State used a 53-34 second-half run to beat the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team 82-66 in Wednesday's Battle for the Rock nonconference game at the SMU gym.
The Cardinals jumped out to a three-point, 32-29 halftime advantage, but could not hold on in losing to the Warriors for the fourth straight time.
Stacy Hammel (Manitowoc, Wis.) led the way for SMU, scoring 18 points, while
Jenny Gilles (Keizer, Ore.) added 16 and
Amy Burns (Winona, Minn.) chipped in 11. Amanda Brown fueled the Warriors' offensive attack, netting a game-high 26 points. Jenny Johnson finished with 20 for WSU (3-2 overall), while Nicole Reisner also scored in double figures with 17 points.
