Game Summary

WINONASTEVENS POINT, Wis. — Laura Wyness' (Chicago, Ill.) goal with 1:58 remaining in overtime lifted the Saint Mary's University women's hockey team to a 3-2 nonconference win over UW-Stevens Point Friday evening.

The Cardinals had jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Monica Deringer (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) in the first period and Tennie McCabe (Rochester, Minn.) in the second, but the Pointers battled back, scoring midway through the second period on a goal by Holly Burns, then tying the game on Alison St. Peter's goal just 1:45 into the third period.

Nitara Frost (North Mankato, Minn.) picked up the win in goal for the Cardinals, stopping 22 shots. The Pointers' Diane Sawyer finished with 35 saves as UW-SP lost in overtime for the second time in its last three games.

The same two teams square off Saturday at 2:05 p.m. at the SMU Ice Arena.
