ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — Jenny Long (Westmont, Ill.) scored a game-high 24 points and three other Cardinals finished in double figures as the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with an 87-73 win over Bethel Monday evening.

Along with Long's 24 points, the Cardinals also got 14 points from Stacy Hammel (Manitowoc, Wis.), 13 from Amy Burns (Winona, Minn.) and 12 from Jenny Gilles (Keizer, Ore.).

The Cardinals, who were coming off back-to-back nonconference losses to the University of Chicago and Winona State, battled to a two-point, 40-38 halftime advantage, before breaking the game open with a 47-35 scoring advantage over the game's final 20 minutes.

SMU (1-0 MIAC, 2-2 overall) returns to action Wednesday, playing host to St. Olaf in an MIAC game beginning at 7:30 p.m.
