SMU comes up just short against Carleton

Game Summary

WINONA, Minn. — Jeff Jensen scored a game-high 21 points and Carleton rallied from an eight-point second-half deficit to beat the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team 76-74 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory at the SMU gym Saturday afternoon.

The Knights (2-6 MIAC, 4-8 overall), who led 37-36 at the half, were outscored 16-7 to start the second half as SMU raced to a 52-44 advntage. In a game that had six lead changes, Carleton led by two midway through the second half, 63-61, but this time it was SMU that charged back, holding a 70-69 advantage with 1:40 to play on a basket by Sam Pociask (Menasha, Wis.).

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, who lost for the sixth straight time, Carleton used a 7-4 run in the final 1:40 to seal the win.

Nick Michaels (Dyer, Ind.) scored a team-high 18 points and Pociask finished with 14 for the Cardinals (1-6 MIAC, 1-9 overall), while Steve Knutson (20), Steve Nuessle (15) and Scott Christensen (13) also scored in double figures for Carleton.
