Chiristy Hicks (Bloomington, Minn.) each scored three goals and
Tennie McCabe (Rochester, Minn.) added two goals and an assist as the Saint Mary's University women's hockey team rolled to an
11-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over
Bethel Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals, who beat the Royals
10-2 in the teams' first meeting on Thursday, opened a 3-1 first period lead on goals by Westergren, Hicks and
Laura Wyness (Chicago, Ill.) — and then the floodgates opened.
Hicks, McCabe, Westergren and
Kelly O'Neil (Richfield, Minn.) netted second-period goals, while Westergren, Hicks and
Emily Kearns (Hopkins, Minn.) found the net in the third period. The goal by Kearns was her fifth in two games against the Royals.
Missie Meemken (St. Cloud, Minn.) stopped 30 of the Royals' 31 shots to post the win in goal for the Cardinals, who improved to 6-2 in the MIAC and 10-4 overall.
