Game Summary

WINONA, Minn. — Ryan Stinson (Winona, Minn.) scored with 9:29 remaining in the third period as the Saint Mary's University men's hockey team salvaged a 4-4 tie with Bethel Saturday evening at the SMU Ice Arena.

The Cardinals scored three of the game's first four goals, getting goals from Ryan Holland (Winona, Minn.), Todd Hangge (Rochester, Minn.) and Colin Emans (Hutchinson, Minn.). Emans' goal at the 11:58 mark of the second period giving SMU a 3-1 advantage. Bethel responded with two goals before the end of the second stanze, the second by Jared Gustafson with 53 seconds remaining, as the two teams took a 3-3 tie into the locker room.

Bethel (6-3-1 MIAC, 7-10-1) scored at the 7:21 mark on a goal by Corey McKinnon, but Stinson's tally, on an assist from Nick Meeker (Rochester, Minn.) earned SMU the tie — their third conference tie in eight games (2-3-3).

Eric Richardson (Skokie, Ill.) finished with 32 saves in goal for SMU, including two in the overtime period. Bethel's Steve Witkowski, meanwhile, stopped 45 shots, including seven in the five-minute extra session.
